The competition is open to entries from young people aged 21 years and under on 25th June 2025 who are in education at an Agricultural College.

Maximum number of entrants 12. Preference will be given to students from the South West Region.

Prize money will be provided as follows – 1st £225, 2nd £175, 3rd £125, 4th £75.

FORMAT OF COMPETITION
Competitors to select 6 out of the 7 tasks below.
1. Select lambs for slaughter.
2. Shear 2 sheep
3. Demonstrate their ATV handling skills.
4. Erect and test a length of electric fencing
5. Give examples of correct foot care techniques/handling, vaccinating & dosing (e.g. work out correct weight of ewes for dosage of wormer & correct examples of injection sites).
6. Written questionnaire on flock management and health issues, including SCOPS advice. (Multiple choice).
7. Use of an EID reader and knowledge of the current movement legislation.

RULES OF THE COMPETITION
1. Maximum age is 21 years on 25th June 2025
2. Entry is free.
3. The judge’s decision is final.
4. The competition will start at 10am and finish at approx. 1pm.
5. Prize giving on the day at a time and place to be confirmed.
