Fleece Competition

To be held at NSA Sheep South West 2023

Wednesday June 25th – 9.00am – 5.00pm. 

Judge:- Mr Adrian Prisk – BWMB 

Entry forms should be sent to Sue Martyn by Friday June 20th.

No entry fees.  Prizes as follows:- 1st £15, 2nd £10, 3rd £5

Perpetual trophy for most points in fleece classes.

RULES

  1. Exhibitors may only make two entries per class.  It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to ensure they enter in the correct class.
  2. All fleeces should be neatly rolled and secured by the neck wool.  All fleeces should be labelled with the class entered, the breed or cross and the name and address of the exhibitor.
  3. It is the responsibility of exhibitors to ensure delivery of their fleeces to the Fleece Competition Area at East Knowstone by 10am on June 25th.  Prior delivery to another address may be possible by arrangement with Sue Martyn. They cannot be removed until 5pm.
  4. Fleeces that are artificially stained or fastened with any form of twine will be eliminated.
  5. Some classes may be amalgamated depending on entries received.
  6. The judges decision will be final.

  1. Fine (including Down & Down Cross)
  2. Medium (including Halfbred, Kent, Texel & Lleyn)
  3. Cross (including Masham, Mule & Greyface)
  4. Lustre (including Wensleydale, Lincoln, Devon, Cotswold and Bluefaced Leicester.)
  5. Hill (includingRadnor, Improved Welsh, Cheviot, Exmoor, Gritstone & Lonk)
  6. Mountain (including Swaledale, Dales-bred, Blackface, Rough Fell & Welsh)
  7. Natural Coloured (including Jacob, Herdwick, Black Welsh Mountain or any other natural coloured pure bred or cross bred fleece)
